Yes, we need to keep educating on this, otherwise the comment section here will look like this for every new UWP app released on Desktop first – and that will be quite a few.
One big reason why Netflix in particular would need to spend more time on the mobile version? Not to mention the hardware and use cases are significantly different. You use the same core functionality of the application, but you tailor the UI and how you want people to use the application by device type, screen size, etc. This is what Netflix is doing.
They started with desktops and tablets because that is a much larger user base than phones. The larger screens are also used more for viewing. Is not the same app, just they share almost the same code so developers can develop faster.
Not all apps are the same even on UI Look at Pandora for Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 , others can be almost equal, but depends on what the developer wants to do, and that means the day the both apps are published on the store can be different if they pass through the store check first.

In the future, we could even see the mobile versions released first, like you say it depends on the market the developer is going for.

I have to move it to the right edge of the screen to get it out of the way. Hopefully, they can correct this in the new version. Had this issue using VLC, had to close bittorrent, that solved the problem. Do a google search and the result should come up. It is also caused by other types of programs running in background, some you can just minimize to systray, other to close. Hope this helps. Actually, if you do one click on the screen it will hidden all.
The one problem is that can be a little buggy sometimes, but it works. Hmmm, I just tested this again last night with no other apps or programs running.
