The real problem was finding sp2 which requires sp1. Eventually I found them on the internet but I forget where. EXE but I forget where I found them. Sp2 contains the fix for the Gedit3 crash. When Microsoft announced Windows 10 free upgrade I did it because Microsoft said they were going to improve compatibility mode.

Now with version it works. I think it has something to do with the release of Sandbox.
